Our History

Explore Company History

1967

The Humble Beginnings

A visionary from a remote village called Mandalamanickam in Ramanadhapuram, (Late) Mr. R. Dhanuskodi, establishes Lakshmi Tex in the Sellur area.

1971

Taking root (Official Founding)

Lakshmi Tex is officially founded, focusing on manufacturing and distributing a variety of handloom home textiles.

1975-1980

Growth and Recognition

Lakshmi Tex earns recognition for its high-quality products and unique designs. The company expands its workshop and incorporates diverse weaving techniques.

1990

Expansion and Challenges

Lakshmi Tex invests in acquiring handloom machines specifically for weaving terry towels, becoming their trademark product. The company experiences significant growth, acquiring 500 machines and initiating country-wise exports.

1993

Overcoming Nature's Wrath

A severe cyclonic storm wreaked havoc, triggering days of relentless downpour and overflowing the Vaigai River. The raging waters, estimated to be equivalent to a massive lake unleashed in a short time, caused widespread devastation.
Lakshmi Tex, amidst the tragedy, faces the daunting task of rebuilding. The handloom machines, crucial to their production, suffered extensive damage, causing significant financial setbacks.

1994-1995

Resilience and Transformation

Demonstrating remarkable resilience, Mr. R.Dhanuskodi leads the company's recovery over two years. In 1995, Lakshmi Tex makes a strategic shift by investing in powerloom machines alongside their handlooms, increasing production efficiency.

Late 1990s - Early 2000s

Gradual Growth and International Recognition

Lakshmi Tex expands its reach, becoming a prominent exporter across India. The company continues to recover and grow, gradually establishing itself in the international market.

2019

A Leap Forward

Lakshmi Tex secures a significant export opportunity from the United States. To meet this demand, the company introduces autoloom machines, further enhancing production efficiency and marking a turning point.

2021

Celebrating a Golden Jubilee

Lakshmi Tex celebrates 50 years of excellence in manufacturing and distributing handloom home textiles.

REX is a system of certification of origin of goods based on a principle of self-certification.

The Committee is under the administrative control of the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. Their main objective is to ensure the quality of textiles and textile machinery both for internal consumption and export purposes.

FIEO is the apex body set up by the Ministry of Commerce, Government of India. They are responsible for representing and assisting Indian entrepreneurs and exporters in foreign markets, government recognized export promotion councils and commodity boards.
